The Hopewell Theatre announces auditions, on July 9 and 10, 6:00 pm, for its season opener, The Man with the Plastic Sandwich. Auditions will be held at the theater, 702 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.
Casting requirements are as follows: two males, who can play ages 40-65, and two females, who can play ages 25-35. Directing is Regina Reynolds.
The Man with the Plastic Sandwich is a comedy about an unemployed man who encounters three provocactive characters while contemplating his options on a park bench, a high-spirited ingénue who represents hope, a distinguished hobo who represents wisdom and a hooker who represents reality. Says the Chicago Reporter, “Truly high comedy…I can’t think of a soul who wouldn’t love these off-beat characters.” Says the Chicago Sun Times, “You will laugh until your sides feel as if they will burst…”
Auditioners will be asked to read from the script. Anyone interested, but unable to make the announced times, are asked to call the theater, 330-746-5455, to make alternate arrangements.
